What the DOT Physical Covers
Hearing
Drivers should be able to perceive a “forced whisper” at a distance of 5 feet or less, with or without a hearing aid.
Blood pressure / pulse rate
The medical examiner will conduct a blood pressure test to see whether your blood pressure is too high or too low.
Vision
Drivers are required to have at least 20/40 acuity in each eye with or without correction. They are also required to have at least 70°.
Urinalysis
Drivers must take a urine test or urinalysis, which examines the concentration and content of urine. This test detects underlying medical conditions such as diabetes.
Physical Examination
Physical examinations assess the overall state of your health. The medical examiner inspects specific areas of your body to help diagnose possible diseases and other medical conditions.

WHAT TO EXPECT
A DOT physical can only be conducted by a medical examiner authorized by the FMCSA. All of our providers here at Mobile DOT Doc are FMCSA-certified and can be found on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners website. Considering their credibility and expertise, the medical examiners determine if a candidate meets all the health requirements.

Savonia Grant
Is a family nurse practitioner with a Masters of Science in Nursing from South University, Savannah, Georgia. She has over 36 years as a nurse with the last 6 focused on Family practice.
She’s been the lead provider at the local Urgent Care/Family Practice in Conyers, GA. Savonia has had extensive training and experience in Emergency Care, Urgent Care, and in the Family Practice setting, ensuring all illnesses and injuries were treated and addressed with the highest level of care that is back by Evidence-based practice.
Her experience ranges from critical care, emergency care, out patient ambulatory surgery and cardiac care. She is a member of the American Nursing Association for Nurse Practitioners. A devoted mother with the patron to provide the best health care to her patients with an assurance of being well cared for.
What Should I Bring With Me To The Exam?
A list of the medications you are taking (if there are any) and the name and phone number of the provider who prescribed them.
If you take blood thinners, a recent PT/INR result and a letter from your attending physician which shows your medical history and states that you are safe to drive a DOT-registered vehicle.
If you have had a heart attack, a stent or valve replacement, or if you have suffered from a stroke, cerebral bleeding, or brain tumors, a letter from your specialist which shows your medical history and states that you are safe to drive a DOT-registered vehicle.
If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, a letter from your sleep specialist or a reading from your CPAP machine displaying a result of at least 4 hours of sleep per night or 70% of your total shifts.
If you have diabetes, the result of your recent hemoglobin A1C blood test.
If you have vision and hearing problems, bring the eyeglasses or hearing aids that you wear.
